Michael Joseph Harris Jazz Duo - Wednesday, April 10th 6pm to 9 pm
Dinner Reservations: (410) 625 0534 or www.OpenTable.com
Django, Gypsy Jazz duo of Michael Joseph Harris and Sami Arefin are entertaining diners from 6 to 9 pm with swinging grooves and upbeat guitar playing on this Jazz Wednesday.
In 2012, Michael Joseph Harris dove into the music of legendary French Manouche guitarist Django Reinhardt which led to the creation of Hot Club of Baltimore. He also produced the popular HD concert video titled "Ultrafaux & Hot Club of Baltimore," and his original song "Latcho Dromo" was chosen for inclusion on an International compilation produced by Jon Larsen called Django Festival #9.
Sami Arefin started attending Django Camp in 2011. Sounds about right. He was still a music student back then, and with a wee assist from the instructors he worked with here, Sami quickly established himself as the resident expert on Gypsy jazz at Towson State in Baltimore. Now he and a small posse of Djangophiles (Michael Joseph Harris, Zach Serleth, Matt Andrews…) serve the same role for Charm City at large, where they are responsible for having created quite “a scene.” At last count Sami was playing with Ultrafaux, Hot Club of Baltimore, and this new outfit, the Baltimore Django Collective.
