Join us for dinner and the cool jazz sounds from the Roderick Demmings Jr. Jazz Duo. Demmings began playing the piano as a toddler. Being raised in gospel church, “Rod” was surrounded by music. Much of his current style stems from his roots in the black, gospel Church. After two years of piano lessons, he debuted on solo piano at Carnegie Hall. He then pursued pipe organ where he merited a full scholarship to attend Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, graduating with a B.A. in Organ Performance.
Though a classically trained musician, his primary influences stem from Jazz, RnB, Gospel, Soul, and Pop. Rod is a big fan of the American Songbook and renders many selections from it during his concerts. Rod has also penned several compositions, some of which are currently in production. Rod prides himself most on his ability to transform audiences through the universal language of music.
Michael Gary, a very accomplished bass and guitar player rounds out this duo. Gary attended the Baltimore School for the Arts and Peabody Conservatory.
