Sarbanes a Baltimore native, 23-year-old jazz vocalist, trumpeter, and composer Nico Sarbanes is already emerging as one of the city’s most talented young performers, combining a virtuosic technique on the trumpet with an impressive command of the vocal repertoire of the Great American Songbook. A graduate of the esteemed jazz program at the Schulich School of Music at McGill University in Montreal, his growing list of performance credits includes shows with Antonio Hart, Warren Wolf, Winard Harper, Dick Oatts, and Tim Green.
Tom Mitchell’s guitar playing is rooted in the styles found in 1920’s and 30’s jazz,western swing, country blues and old-time music. After ten years of touring and recordings with Dan Hicks & His Hot Licks, Tom has found a home in Baltimore and can be seen there playing with lots of great players and bands including The Blue Rhythm Boys and The Redwine Jazz Trio. He’s been honored many times by the Washington(DC)Area Musician Award’s (WAMA) including the award for Best Big Band/Swing Recording with his band The Blue Rhythm Boys.
A graduate of the East Carolina and Towson University jazz programs, Shawn Simon is a sought-after bassist on the East Coast traditional jazz and popular music circuit. Currently on the faculty at Loyola University, he has had the privilege to perform with a variety of jazz artists, including Terrell Stafford, Tim Warfield, Warren Wolf, William Goffigan, and Nicholas Payton.
